3R training at i3S started with Refinement focused training courses in laboratory animal sciences, preparing scientists for responsible research with animals. The present training portfolio in laboratory animal science includes an introductory training course which is mandatory before scientists are allowed to access the animal facility, an internationally accredited advanced course for scientists who are designing and coordinating research with animals, a training course in experimental design and analysis of data from studies with animals and a series of workshops on specific techniques with animals.
The training portfolio on non-animal methods is being developed. Training courses in organoid and organoid-like models have been established through the REMODEL project and from 2023, the “Advanced Course on Organoids Models” is organized annually.
